The FAIR Institute is dedicated to being a welcoming place for all information security professionals to join, learn, and network with one another. As a community composed of professionals of all nationalities, races, genders, and religions, we believe there is an innate responsibility to stand up against hate, racism, and bigotry in the United States and around the world. Consequently, we support the Black Lives Matter movement and stand in solidarity with the Black community in a shared vision towards justice and equity.
Additionally, there is more to do than just post a message; we want to act. Cultivating the next generation of diverse, quantitatively minded, cybersecurity professionals falls squarely in line with the objectives of our three pillared mission of education and training, sharing best practices, and networking with peers and other industry associations.
We are partnering with our Technical Advisor, RiskLens, to provide free FAIR Fundamental Analysis Training to students and professors at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Institute is also going to reach out to HBCU cybersecurity and risk management programs with the goal of helping students prepare for the market demand of risk analysts who are well-versed in quantitative risk analysis. We hope that this small step will help give opportunities to Black students and support the needs of a growing industry.
Finally, the Institute and its leaders are always looking to learn more about these issues and determine how we can use our platform and community to amplify equality. We encourage our current and future members to come to us with any advice for ways to better serve the community.
