When we founded the FAIR Institute, quantitative cyber risk management was a bold idea held by a small group of believers. Measuring cyber risk in financial terms and speaking the language of the business seemed out of reach for most organizations. Today it's a recognized discipline, practiced by thousands of professionals worldwide and increasingly expected by boards, regulators, and executives.
That success brings responsibility. The profession has matured, and the Institute needs to mature with it. So over the past several months, we've been doing something we've never done before: rethinking the FAIR Institute from the ground up.
Introducing FAIR Institute 2.0
On November 10, at FAIR Forward, we'll unveil the result: a new strategy and a new chapter for the Institute. It's the most significant evolution in our history.
We're saving the full details for November 10, but here's what we can share today. FAIR Institute 2.0 reflects what we've heard from our community over the years. It covers how the Institute is structured and governed, what it stands for, and how it helps both individuals and organizations get better at managing cyber risk. It's designed to make the Institute stronger, independent, and more valuable to everyone who is part of it, and to set us up to lead the profession for years to come.
FAIR Forward replaces FAIRCON26
Earlier this year, we announced that FAIRCON26 would be held as a virtual event. FAIR Forward will take its place: there will be no separate FAIRCON26 this year. We made this choice so we could focus our energy on building FAIR Institute 2.0 and give its unveiling the stage it deserves. FAIRCON will return in its full form in 2027, and we look forward to seeing you there.
What to expect
FAIR Forward is a focused event built around one purpose: sharing where the Institute is headed. The program opens with a presentation of the new strategy, followed by an open Q&A. This is your chance to ask questions, challenge our thinking, and help shape what comes next. We'll close with a handful of sessions on some of the most pressing themes in cyber risk management today.
