Seattle Chapter of FAIR Institute Launches Mar 13 - Meet the Co-Chairs, Alan Wilson, Zach Cossairt

We already have a large community of FAIR practitioners in the Seattle area and starting March 13, they have an official place to gather, with the first meeting of the Seattle Chapter of the FAIR Institute.
March 13, 2:00-4:00 PM PT, BECU Credit Union, Tukwala
On the agenda: Networking with your fellow FAIR Institute members and two use-case presentations.
Our chapter co-chairs are:
- Alan Wilson, Director, Cybersecurity, GRC at BECU
- Zach Cossairt, Integrated Risk Management Program Senior Manager at Equinix

Alan and Zach hatched the plan to start the chapter when, by chance, they were seated next to each other at FAIRCON24 in Washington, DC. Alan says they want to bring that FAIRCON vibe to the Seattle chapter: “Sharing ideas, connecting with like-minded people having the same challenges. Just today I had a conversation with someone on my team about third party risk and I suggested to him ‘let's talk about it with the group in March’.”
“We really want to make this chapter for the people and for the people -- we want to know what you all want to learn,” Zach adds.
Get to know Alan and Zach in this short video I recently hosted with them. We ran through how they learned about FAIR (Zach goes way back to college days) some of their tips for running a FAIR program and communicating on quantitative risk management within your team and to stakeholders.
Alan: “Talk in terms of your audience and focus on what they are interested in and less on the underlying mechanics” of FAIR analysis.
Zach: “Our objective in presenting results is to design the environment where the decisions are being made and design it in a way where decisions can be made quickly but objectively and in a positive way.”
Fun fact about Zach: He’s an expert in behavioral economics as well as FAIR. Learn more in this blog post: How Equinix Delivers Cyber Risk Management as a Service.
