At the FAIR Institute, we are always looking for ways to further build out a comprehensive risk management program that leverages FAIR plus other standards and frameworks.
So, we’re thrilled to welcome to our board Suneel Sundar, Director of R&D, Center for Threat-Informed Defense, who opens new avenues of cooperation between the risk and threat-intel communities.
The Center for Threat-Informed Defense is a non-profit, privately funded research and development organization operated by MITRE Engenuity, home of the MITRE ATT&CK framework, the knowledge base of attacker tactics and techniques widely used on the operational side of cybersecurity.
As Sunil explains in this short video, “understanding threats really requires a holistic story of risk which we [FAIR + MITRE] do together in a symbiotic relationship.”
“What FAIR has done in creating a common language of cyber risk quantification on the risk side I see as a healthy partnership because MITRE has done that on the threat side as a common language with MITRE ATT&CK.”
Sunil is new to the FAIR Institute board but his symbiotic relationship with FAIR goes back to his days as a young mathematician asked to do a risk analysis for a large utility company.
“Even back then, the FAIR Institute provided resources that I could use to create customized risk quantification for the energy sector. That was the first patent I ever received and I give credit to FAIR for getting me there.”
