The creator of Factor Analysis of Information Risk (FAIR), Jack has “ushered in a revolution in the way that the world’s leading organizations measure and manage cybersecurity risk,” in the words of SC Media awarding him its Reboot Leadership award. The NIST CSF, the COSO Enterprise Risk Management Framework and other authorities have recommended FAIR as the standard in quantification of cyber and operational risk. Under Jack’s leadership, membership in the FAIR Institute has passed 13,000, with local chapters around the world. Jack’s latest contribution to the risk management profession is the FAIR Controls Analytics Model (FAIR-CAM™), bringing quantitative effectiveness analysis to cybersecurity controls.
Brenda Thayer, Senior Manager, Technology Risk at Fannie Mae
Brenda brings the front-line perspective of a FAIR professional leading a risk analysis and risk management program in the demanding environment of a sophisticated financial institution. She will discuss how she developed standardized risk assessment reporting based on FAIR and consumable for non-technical stakeholders, and more techniques for transitioning an organization from legacy qualitative reporting to quantification-based risk assessment.
